Word Hunt privacy and local data
Screenshot processing and solving run in your browser. Hosting still serves pages and versioned resources over the network.
Images and boards
Selecting a screenshot lets the browser read that file locally. Pixels are decoded, cropped, and recognized in the client; the solver uses a local Worker. The application has no image-upload API or cloud OCR service. Raw screenshots are not persisted in practice history. Image object URLs and Worker resources are released when their tasks end or are replaced.
Resource requests and hosting
The browser downloads page code, the ENABLE dictionary, and optional versioned recognition resources from this site’s origin or its configured Cloudflare R2 CDN at cdn.word-hunt-solver.com. Normal hosting requests expose network metadata such as IP address and user agent to the hosting service. The delivered source includes no advertising, session replay, analytics SDK, or remote error reporting. This does not imply that hosting has no access logs. The operator should review Vercel and Cloudflare retention settings before deployment.
Saved on this device
Practice sessions and user-saved boards use local browser storage. They contain board letters, selected rules, found words, elapsed time, and pause status. Local history can be exported, individually deleted, or cleared. An export is a file under your control; deleting the browser copy does not delete exported files. Clearing site data or using another browser can remove access to local records. There is no account or server backup.
Sharing and feedback are deliberate
Share previews show the board and rule copy that will appear in the URL fragment. Screenshots and personal history are excluded. A fragment is not sent in the ordinary HTTP request, but anyone receiving the complete link can read it. It is not a private access-control mechanism. Do not place private text in shared boards.
The contact form prepares text locally. Downloading a draft does not send it. Opening a GitHub issue composer transfers the previewed issue text to GitHub; posting is a separate action governed by GitHub’s policy. Board data and screenshots are not automatically included.
Deletion and questions
Use My History to remove saved sessions. For all local site data, use your browser’s site-storage controls. Ask privacy questions with the feedback draft. A future change that adds telemetry or remote processing must update this page and the network audit before release.
Practical details and worked examples
Word Hunt Solver privacy depends on the actual data flow, not simply the phrase “local OCR.” Selected images are decoded and recognized in your browser, and board search uses a separate browser Worker. Hosting still serves pages and resources over the network. Saving history, sharing a board, and preparing feedback are different actions with different contents; inspect the relevant preview before choosing to disclose anything.
Understand what happens to a selected image
Word Hunt Solver privacy begins when selecting a file: that choice gives the browser access to that chosen image for this task. The application decodes pixels, proposes board geometry, and recognizes cropped cells locally. It has no screenshot-upload endpoint or required cloud OCR service. Raw screenshots are not stored inside practice history. Temporary image references and task resources are released as they are replaced or their component lifetime ends; the original file remains wherever you saved it on your device.
Account for ordinary requests and hosting metadata
The Word Hunt solver downloads its application code, dictionary, and optional OCR runtime from the site origin. Hosting may observe ordinary request metadata such as an IP address and browser information. The delivered source contains no advertising, session replay, analytics SDK, or remote error reporter. This does not establish a particular hosting-log retention period. The production operator needs to review its hosting configuration instead of promising that local recognition means no network traffic exists.
Separate local records from backups under your control
Local records contain board letters, rules, found words and paths, elapsed time, selected duration, and pause status. They are tied to this browser's site storage rather than an account. A JSON export creates a separate file that you control. Deleting a session here removes the local copy, not any file already downloaded or sent elsewhere. Word Hunt Solver privacy therefore includes managing exports and the browser's storage settings, not only clicking a history delete button.
Inspect exactly what a shared link contains
For Word Hunt Solver privacy during sharing, the preview includes the board and selected rule settings, excluding screenshots and personal history. Its payload is carried in a URL fragment, which ordinary HTTP requests do not send to the server. Anyone who receives the full link can nevertheless read the payload. It is not a private access-control mechanism. Copy only after checking the preview, and avoid putting private text into letter tokens or distributing a link beyond the intended recipients.
Choose feedback disclosures deliberately
The contact form prepares text locally. Downloading that draft does not submit it. Opening a GitHub issue composer transfers the previewed issue text to GitHub, where posting remains a separate action. The Word Hunt solver does not automatically attach your screenshot or history. Describe a problem with a minimal nonpersonal example whenever possible. Clearing site data cannot retract a message or export already delivered to someone else.
A practical sequence
- Review local history contents before exporting or deleting records.
- Check the board-and-rules share preview before copying its link.
- Remove personal conversation content from any feedback you choose to send.
- Use browser site-storage controls to clear remaining local data when desired.
A worked example
You recognize a screenshot, play a round, export history, and share the board. These produce distinct items: the original image on your device, a local practice record, a downloaded JSON file, and a share link containing board settings. Deleting the local practice record does not delete the image or export and does not invalidate copies of the link. To reduce disclosure, keep the original screenshot private, inspect the share preview, and manage exported files separately from the website's local delete action.
What to carry into your next attempt
Word Hunt Solver privacy is best understood as a set of visible choices and bounded data flows. Local image processing protects the screenshot from a required upload, while normal hosting, optional sharing, exports, and chosen external feedback remain real interactions. Read their previews and retention limits rather than treating one local component as a guarantee about the whole site.
Check the selected rules and custom points, word-list source and license, verification methods, and local data and network details when interpreting this example.
